What to expect at your visit

guiding you on the path to healing

Therapy is a process of growth and self-discovery. In therapy sessions, I firmly believe that the client holds the answers to their most pressing concerns.  I am here to help you realize the mastery that you already hold over your life. It is a collaborative process of working together to discover that ability and utilize it.

insurance policy

It is important to note that I am not a participating provider in any insurance networks but I can operate as an out-of-network provider. However, unless your plan is limited to an HMO, most policies do reimburse a good portion of the fee for out-of-network mental health services. Before coming in for a session, you may want to call the telephone number on your insurance card listed for "Behavioral Health" and ask the following questions:

  • What is my individual/family deductible for out-of-network providers?

  • What percentage of the psychotherapy cost is covered for out-of-network providers?

  • Is there a cap on reimbursement for services?

  • Is pre-authorization required?

When payment is made at the end of every session, I will provide you with a receipt which you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.  If you have any problems I will assist you with this process. Sessions are generally 50 minutes for individual, family and couples sessions.  If a session needs to be cancelled, please provide 24-hours notice to avoid incurring a cancellation fee.

Therapy Forms

After you've scheduled your first appointment, you will receive a link to your personal patient portal where you can complete all of the forms necessary for therapy.  If you have any difficulty with the completion of these forms online, please let me know at our first session and I can provide you with a hard copy to complete.

Types of therapy available to you

individual therapy

If you are finding that your present life is deeply affected by past wounds and difficult experiences, it may be time to enter into therapy, where you can explore these events and understand their impact.  Non-Judgemental and unconditionally supportive, a therapeutic relationship allows for the opportunity to find your strength again.

group therapy

family & couples therapy

We’ll work to understand current problems in the context of past emotional wounds.  My goal is to help each person become a more attuned and responsive family member and engage in more reparative, not destructive, interactions.  The goal of each session is to understand a little more how the challenges in your relationship may actually be at the genesis of its greatest improvements.

Community Outreach

sexual consent and responsibility

In October, 2018, New Jersey passed a law requiring all public schools to include sexual abuse prevention in their curriculum for grades K-12.  In an effort to assist in this massive initiative, I offer age-appropriate trainings for students, school personnel and parents on sexual consent and what it means to make sexually responsible decisions as young adults.

If you would like to schedule a seminar or discussion about Sexual Consent and Responsibility, please contact me.

mindfulness-based stress reduction techniques

My passion lies in empowering people to relate differently to their emotions.  I find that Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is an extremely powerful tool in doing just that.  I have spoken at schools, religious institutions, & community organizations to the end of teaching simple techniques to manage their stress with a significantly higher level of effectiveness.  If you are interested in hosting an MBSR event, please contact me

Clinical Supervision

partnering in education

Working towards becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker is a difficult enough process without the added challenge of unsupportive supervision.  Though very different from therapy, the process of engaging in Clinical Supervision requires the same support & attunement as one would hope for in a therapist.  I have been honored to assist my supervisees in their journey towards licensure and would welcome the honor of supporting you, too.

If you would like to schedule a consultation to see if Clinical Supervision would be

a good fit between us, please contact me.

Sometimes, support from a professional just isn't enough.   You need to hear the perspective of others that are experiencing similar struggles.  Groups that I have offered include:

  • Eating Disorder Support

  • Pre & Postpartum Support

  • Children of Divorce

  • Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)

About Me

Many people make the decision to seek therapy in moments of great crisis, great courage, or both. These difficult times can offer an opportunity to learn about ourselves and build our natural resilience. It is the collaborative experience between therapist and client that can offer the greatest possibility for change. This is why I value the therapeutic relationship above all else and provide an inviting, open and non-judgmental space to help you work through stress and develop new strategies to understand and manage it. In therapy, we will explore your current and past relationships in order to promote insight and positive change. We will also focus on practical skills to sustain growth and healthy behavioral patterns that will support that growth.

Because much of what brings people to therapy has to do with the challenges in their interpersonal lives, I offer sexual and relationship counseling in the context of both individual and couples therapy. What generally affects one, affects others, so helping people move past their obstacles and into a free and healthy emotional space is essential.

I welcome the opportunity to work with Adolescents (12-18), Adults (18+), Couples, Families, and Groups.  I have worked extensively with issues including, but not limited to, Sex Therapy, Depressive and Anxiety Disorders, Eating Disorders, Sexual Trauma Recovery, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Relationship Communication Skill-Building, Intimacy issue management, Pre-Divorce Counseling, and Adolescent adjustment issues.

Education

I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree from Providence College and a Master of Social Work from New York University. I am in pursuit of a Ph.D. in Clinical Sexology from The Modern Sex Therapy Institutes, defending my dissertation in May, 2023.

I am a Certified Sex Therapist through the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT).  I've done Post-graduate work in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy at Columbia University Behavioral Training as well as Dialectical Behavior Therapy at Behavior Tech.  I am also trained in EMDR through EMDRIA, the EMDR Institute of America.
