Specialized Therapy

Sometimes you need a little something extra...

Although at times therapy can be simply seeking out an objective ear when you are encountering an especially difficult transition, there are often situations that require more specialized care.

Anxiety, depression and the aftermath of trauma are unfortunately all too common in our current times.  Thankfully there are many ways to address your therapeutic needs.  Together, we can find the means that suit your goals best.  Below are some of the specialized areas where I have done extensive training and have had success with client goals.

Sex Therapy

As a Sex Therapist, I offer a collaborative and supportive environment for individuals and couples to address a wide range of sexual concerns and challenges. My goal is to enhance communication, understanding, and intimacy while helping individuals and couples navigate issues such as desire discrepancies, erectile dysfunction, orgasm difficulties, sexual trauma, and more.

I offer LGBTQIA+ and gender-affirming care and hold these principles in the highest regard.

Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR)

The goal of EMDR is to help individuals process and integrate distressing memories and emotions related to traumatic experiences that can become "stuck" in the brain's processing system. EMDR aims to facilitate the processing of these memories so that they no longer trigger such intense emotional and physical responses. My goal is to help survivors process their emotions, rebuild a sense of safety, foster resilience, and navigate a path towards healing and renewal.

Perinatal Mood
Disorder Support

Perinatal mood disorders (PMAD) affect almost 20% of new mothers and nearly 10% of new fathers.  PMAD therapy provides essential support for individuals experiencing depression and anxiety during pregnancy and after childbirth. I aid new parents in addressing the emotional challenges that can arise during this transformative period.

PMAD therapy helps individuals manage their symptoms, reduce feelings of isolation, and develop effective ways to navigate the complexities of parenthood.

Parenting Guidance

& Support

Parenting is an extraordinary journey that offers both cherished experiences and incredibly difficult challenges.  I offer an opportunity for parents to receive adequate space to explore their worries, frustrations and challenges.  It is important to create an open environment to reflect on the inter-generational trauma and challenges that may be replicating themselves in current parenting difficulties.  No matter how old one's children are, it's never too late to begin this work.

Pre & Post Divorce Counseling

Whether the decision has been made to divorce, or you are contemplating the best road to take for all people involved, counseling can prove incredibly helpful in navigating the difficulty inherent in this major life transition.  Pre- & Post-Divorce Counseling can be offered in the context of Individual, Couples, or Family Therapy and can be offered in any combination thereof.  The pain if divorce can cause less distress when you are getting the support and guidance that can aid in lowering conflict and increasing effective communication.

Clinical

Supervision

Warm and collaborative clinical supervision holds profound importance in the realm of professional development and patient care. By fostering an environment of trust, open communication, and mutual respect with my supervisees, my goal is to facilitate discussing challenging cases, personal concerns, and increase professional growth.

FAQ's

How long are sessions and how frequently will we meet?
Sessions typically occur weekly on a mutually agreed upon day/time though scheduling changes may be accommodated. Each session lasts for 50 minutes.

What is your policy around confidentiality?
Confidentiality is taken extremely seriously.  New Jersey state law is very clear regarding the confidentiality of communications between a client and therapist. Information is never disclosed without explicit written permission, with the following important exceptions. A therapist is legally required to report the following:
-  Suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse.
-  If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person/s (danger to others)
-  If a client intends to harm himself or herself (danger to self)

How much does therapy cost?
Once it is decided what type of therapy you are seeking (ie. individual, couples, family) as well as the frequency of the therapy you would like to engage in, I will send you my fee schedule as well as information about the rest of my policies, some of which are summarized here.

Do you accept insurance?
I participate as an Out-of-Network provider only. Many insurance plans allow you to select an out-of-network provider and therefore you may be eligible for reimbursement. In most cases, I am able to bill the insurance company for direct reimbursement to you.  Payment is due by cash, check, Venmo or Zelle at the time of each session. I do accept credit card payments, which incur a 3.5% processing fee.

What if I need to cancel my appointment?
You will receive a text or email reminder 48 hours before every session to avoid forgetting about your appointment.  However, should you need to cancel your session unexpectedly, at least 24 hours notice is required.  For cancellation with less than 24 hours notice clients are financially responsible for their missed session. Rescheduling within the same week may be an option (availability permitting) and phone sessions are available on a limited basis.

What is the No Surprises Act?

As of Jan. 1, 2022 you have the right to a Good Faith Estimate about your anticipated fees. This will be provided for you at the time of your first session.
