Cayte Castrillon

Hi there! My name is Cayte Castrillon, and I am thrilled to have the privilege of doing the work that I do. In 2001, I experienced the atrocities of 9/11 first hand while working as a NYC based Sales Executive in fashion and it provided me with a new perspective that changed my life's direction. I earned my Master of Social Work degree from New York University in 2004 and focused my efforts on helping my clients find the courage necessary to explore their pasts to create a better future. After years working with clients in a multitude of clinical settings, I realized the need for more clinical professionals that are well trained in the field of sexual trauma, relational health, and sex education.  I've dedicated the later part of my career to this path and I earned my Ph.D. in Clinical Sexology from The Modern Sex Therapy Institutes, focusing my research on the relational effects of pornography on young adults. 

 

The post-graduate credentials I've pursued include becoming a Certified Sex Therapist through the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT).  I've received certification in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy through Columbia University's Teaching College, as well as training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy at Behavior Tech.  To aid in my work in trauma, I am also trained in EMDR through EMDRIA, the EMDR Institute of America.   

 

My goals in both my clinical and speaking work is to challenge the personal narratives that may be holding people back from truly finding their best path.  I explore and challenge environmental conditioning that so many of us don't realize have affected who we are in our relationships, both with ourselves and with others. 

 

When I am not treating clients or speaking, you can find me spending lots of time in NYC with my amazing partner, planning my next travel adventure, or making the voyage with my teenage daughter to a volleyball tournament in any number of locations across the US.
